About Counselling

You may decide to see a counsellor if you are facing a particular difficulty or you may feel stuck and dissatisfied with your life.

By listening attentively and patiently the counsellor can begin to perceive the difficulties from your point of view and can help you to see things more clearly, possibly from a different perspective. Counselling can be a way of reducing confusion, discovering choice and enabling change.  It does not involve directing you to take a particular course of action.

In the counselling sessions you can explore various aspects of your life and feelings, talking about them freely and openly in a way that is rarely possible with friends or family. Bottled up feelings such as stress, anger, anxiety, grief and embarrassment can become very intense and counselling offers an opportunity to discover and work through strong feelings.  You can gain more self awareness, work through issues from your past, discover habits that are holding you back and develop new ways to deal with your emotions, thoughts or behaviour.

The process can be hard work and challenging and sometimes painful as you recall distressing experiences and feelings of loss in your life.  However, it can also be very rewarding as you may discover hidden strengths and truths about yourself and find a way to live a more satisfying and fulfilling life.

I offer support in an empathic and non judgmental way and the work is private and confidential.
